Orthopedics And Autism: Understanding The Most Common Orthopedic Struggles

When my son was diagnosed with autism as a young child, we were quickly referred to an orthopedist for an evaluation of his feet and ankles. Walking on his toes, as is common with those on the spectrum, led to poor development of his Achilles tendon. He had to have a thorough assessment and was then referred for orthopedic surgery to repair the damage. This was a whole new experience for us, and I figured we couldn't be the only ones. I created this site to share what we learned and hopefully help to guide other parents through the evaluation, surgery, and recovery. I'll also share other orthopedic information I've picked up along the way.
